The Beneficent ruler of Crystal Tokyo, Neo Queen Serenity ascended to the throne at the age of 20 and became the ruler of Earth. The magical silver crystal she carried gave humanity eternal life and freed the world from disease and starvation; the new age of peace and prosperity soon began to be known as a utopia, and many began to worship the Queen as a goddess.
Despite the Queen's open discomfort with many of her subjects' worship, she allows it to continue because despite her best efforts, her and the other senshi's protestations that they are merely mortals--if powerful ones--fall on deaf ears.
When Seisui appears with news that purification--a process used to remove all hatred from its recipient--is actually more akin to brainwashing than healing, the Queen is at first skeptical and disbelieving. After all, purification has always been seen by both the royal court and her subjects as an act of great kindness. But when Lady Serenity, the crown princess, sees the terrible effects of purification first hand, the Queen may never be able to acquiesce to the worship of her subjects again...
